What's In My Makeup Bag

Hello beautiful people!
I always see tons of bloggers and Instagrammers post all of the beauty and makeup products they carry with them on a day to day basis, and they're honestly some of my favorite posts and Instagram pictures to scroll through and read, because I'm so curious as to what people consider their absolute favorites and things they want to carry all the time. It actually inspired me to share with you guys the things that I've been carrying with me lately. At 19 weeks pregnant, I cannot find the energy to put on any makeup before 10 am, so I actually take my makeup with me to work and once I've woken up completely, I will apply it. I just find that this works much better for me, because I can put some actual effort into my makeup instead of the usual lip balm and moisturizer I would wear if I did my makeup before work. I love these kind of posts because it encourages me to try out new things, and so hopefully after seeing some of my favorites, you will be inspired to make a trip to your local drugstore and find some new makeup to play with!

Face

For my face, I tend to keep it pretty simple so I use only the necessary to make me look and feel alive ever morning.
Foundation: I use the Olay Total Effects 7 in One Tone Correcting CC Cream which has been my go to for over a year. It does everything that I need it to do, plus it also acts like a moisturizer giving me a glow.
Powder: For the past 3 years I have been using the Rimmel London Stay Matte Long Lasting Powder in Translucent to set my makeup. It keeps everything in place and never makes me shiny, but it does let my natural glow come through, which I love because it's not heavy at all, so it never makes my face feel cakey.
Concealer: The L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer in fair light (n1-2-3) is the only concealer I've used in the past year. It conceals my dark circles, brightens my under eyes, and is never cakey!
Blush and Bronzer: Although I'm a huge fan of my NYC Bronzer, I love this e.l.f Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo in St. Lucia. It's compact and it has two products that look great on my skin color no matter the season. This bronzer may not be everyones cup of tea because it does have some shimmer, but I love how pretty it looks on the skin. The blush is a pretty coral color which again looks beautiful year round.
Highligher: I didn't use to be a big fan of highlighter, but this Bonne Bell blend'nglow is so beautiful. Depending on how much makeup I'm wearing that day, I can wear just one of the colors, or I can blend them all together to create different shades of highlighter. It's very easy to carry on the go because I can get a lot of use and a lot of different colors from one small compact product,

Eyes

Eyeshadow: I don't wear color on my lids every single day, but for those days that I want to add a little color, I use the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo 24hr in 25 Bad to the Bronze, without any other type of eyeshadow on top because this product is something that you can build up. I usually apply two layers and just blend it out with my fingers for a nice everyday look. I love this product because you don't need anything else to accompany it, and you can wear it all day long without fear of it coming off.
Eyeliners: I have two eyeliners that I carry with me everyday even though I don't necessarily wear them everyday because these two are my holy grail eyeliners. For liquid eyeliner I use the Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen and for pencil eyeliner I use the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero. I can always count on these two to never smudge or run down my face, and after years of experimenting with eyeliners, I think it's safe to say I have found the two that I will continue using until they discontinue making them.
Eyebrows: Even though my eyebrows are a hot mess at the moment, I use the Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde. I used to use the e.l.f. eyebrow kit, but I found that this is more convenient to carry with me because I don't have to carry an extra brush. Although I'm a brunette, this pencil still fills in my eyebrows nicely without making them too dark, which is what I like.
Mascara: I have a few mascaras that are my favorites and that I rotate through, but the current one I'm using is the Maybelline New York Mega Plush Volume Express. I love that this mascara makes my eyelashes really soft and it's a perfect mascara for day to day because it's very build able.

Lips

All of these get rotated through on a daily basis because I'll usually throw in a new one every day and take one out, so I won't really go into much detail besides saying that I always keep a clear lip balm with me, a couple lipsticks, a colored lipbalm, and a couple lipstains with me at all times.

Brushes

I keep only 3 brushes with me in my makeup bag, and they all happen to be from e.l.f. cosmetics. I use the Powder brush to set my powder, the Blush brush for bronzer and highlighter, and the stippling brush for blush. I don't like to keep many brushes with me because I find they get ruined and dirty in my makeup bag, so I like to keep only the essentials with me.

Neutral Leopard.

Hello Beautifuls!
I know, I know. It's been a while, but here's a little update on what's been going on in my life since November. I got married, I'm a full time business owner now, and I'm 17 weeks pregnant! Yes, I know my life has been quite eventful since my last post and I'm really sorry that I haven't been posting at all, but everything in my life has been happening so fast that I just now am starting to regain some normalcy in my life and trying to regain a little part of my old life back. I have missed fashion blogging so much, but during the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy, I literally wore nothing but leggings and sweatpants because of how sick I was. I had extreme all day sickness and I was too exhausted to properly coordinate an outfit worthy of an OOTD post on Instagram or here on my blog. Last week was the first day that I finally started feeling like myself again and I started dressing up and  putting some effort into how I looked once again. I'm so happy to be back and I'm already planning more posts coming sometime this week! Thank you all for sticking with me and for all of your supportive comments over on Instagram!

How to Transition Summer/Spring Clothes into the Colder Months

Hello lovelies!
I'm very sorry for the lack of posts lately, but I have been bombarded with school work, studying for exams, and a couple of papers that I cannot put off. That added to the fact that the sun now goes down a lot earlier, gives me almost no time to shoot any pictures, making it very difficult to create any content for me to share with you guys. Last week I received a question from a lovely Instagram follower asking me how I transition my clothes into the fall/winter and if I had any suggestions for her. I sent her an email explaining how I do it, but last night it occurred to me that there could be other people out there who need some help in transitioning their clothes from the warmer months into something that can also be worn during the colder months. We got our first snowfall of the season yesterday here in Colorado, and I had to come to the realization that the warmer months are finally behind us and it's time to buckle up and get ready to come up with new outfit ideas for these really cold months. This year for me has been a complete style journey and my personal style has definitely changed a lot, so I want to keep up the progress even during the colder months when you are pretty much stuck wearing sweaters and boots everyday. I hope you all find these tips helpful, and I cannot wait to see how you guys incorporate my tips into your everyday wardrobe, so if you do, please be sure to tag me on Instagram (@makefashionyourown) and use the hashtag #makefashionyourown so I can see! Stay warm, and I will talk to you all soon!

Layer up
I know this sounds so obvious, but this is the best way to transition your clothes is by layering. You can do this a number of which ways (tights, shirts underneath your sweaters, adding a scarf). I usually add a big cardigan on top, a scarf, you can even add some tights underneath your dresses, shorts, and skirts to make them more appropriate for colder weather. There is no reason that you should have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for the colder months as long as you master the art of layering. Every year I go out and buy a few tights (usually from Forever 21), a couple cable knit scarves (usually from Plato's Closet) and some new vests or sweaters (usually from my local Goodwill) to add to my wardrobe. You can seriously wear most of your clothes from the warmer months in the fall/winter as long as you layer and bundle up.

Add a hat
There is nothing more fall/winter than adding a big  floppy hat to complete your outfit. I have accumulated 6 hats in the last year all in different colors, because they are seriously the easiest thing to throw on in the mornings to complete your outfit, hide a bad hair day, and just transition your basic tee and jeans warmer months uniform into something thats worthy of being seen in during the colder months. I like to wear some of my summery dresses in the fall time by added a denim shirt, a big hat, and some booties. It's all about how you style an outfit.

Boots
This is another one that seems very obvious, but adding a pair of boots or booties can make any outfit more appropriate for the fall time. I love wearing riding boots with some of my more summery skirts in the fall, and I have even paired some booties with some shorts and big cardigan. Again, it's all about who you style an outfit. You can find some really cute and affordable boots at Ross, TJMaxx, and even thrift stores. Thats where I purchased all of mine last year! I usually add a pair of boot socks, or even some leg warmers and make sure you can see them from the top of your boots whenever I'm wearing them with a skirt or dress to make the whole outfit just seem more cozy and fall/winter appropriate.

Some Transitional Weather Outfits

I added some knee high socks, boots, and a sweater to my skater skirt

I added a big floppy hat and some booties to this summery dress

I added a sweater and some booties to these summery palazzo pants

Boots, a scarf, and a vest made this summer dress fall time chic

A big cardigan, chunky cable knit scarf, and some boots for class

I hope these tips were helpful and that you got some ideas for how to make your warmer weather clothes work in the colder months!

Pop of Leopard.

I hate mondays. I really, really, really hate mondays. But honestly, it's really hard to be grumpy on monday's when you have a leopard print coat, it's actually almost impossible. I cannot wait for the weather to get a little colder to able to wear my new coat all the time. I found this Boston Proper coat a few weeks ago at my local Goodwill and I just had to pick it up. It's the one item that my closet was seriously missing. It goes with everything, and the silhouette is perfect for my body, the length is perfect for my height, and the colors of the leopard print are just beautiful. It's safe to say that I am in love with this coat. I chose to pair it with an all black outfit underneath which consisted of a black skater skirt, a black dressy top, and some black heeled boots. For my purse I decided to go with a black and white color block satchel.

Welcome, November.

November is finally here? Can you guys believe that?! Seriously though, where have the last 10 months gone? With November comes the cloudy days, chilly weather, and finally some snow. I'm not saying I love all of those (who really loves the snow, right?) but I do love the cloudy days and chilly weather. It's the perfect excuse to throw on some leggings, a sweater, a big hat, and some boots. I could seriously live in those 4 things all winter long, and believe me I intend to. Yesterday was the first day of November which meant it was the perfect excuse to bring out the coziest things in my closet and then pose outside a Subway after I got my sister and her boss some lunch. Thankfully no one was around, so I got to avoid the usual judgmental looks I get from passerby's anytime I take pictures in a public place, but I've been doing this for a while now so it honestly no longer bothers me. A girls gotta do what she's gotta do, right?

I'm So Fancy, You Already Know.

Today's look is probably my all time favorite thing I have ever worn. This jumpsuit from MissGuided is just perfection. I have a blogpost coming next week where I style this jumpsuit various ways, but I just had to give this look it's own post. I didn't actually wear the heels or jacket with this for my actual day, but I wanted to glam up this outfit and that was the perfect way to do it. This outfit is perfect for a girls night out on the town or even a nice dinner with your significant other. I hope you guys enjoyed this outfit as much as I did, and I hope my recent posts have inspired you all to take some risks in your wardrobe.
