Look Cute for Class Everyday

Hi guys!
I hope you all had a good holiday break and that you were able to spend it with your loved ones! Although my family and I don't celebrate the holidays, it's always nice just to spend a few days off with them. This year my momma learned how to make tamales, and so we had family over and we all just ate tamales and menudo. It was definitely just a blessing to get to see my family and just spend some time together.
PS: I have decided that based on my hectic class schedule this semester, (I'm taking 5 classes and a lab!) I will be posting every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and either Saturday or Sunday. It will just depend on my homework load for that weekend. Sometimes I may even post on both Saturday and Sunday. I hope you guys will keep coming back to my blog and I also want to thank you guys for an amazing year. I have gotten so many amazing opportunities thanks to the amazing support I have gotten from everyone who decides to take a chance and take a look at my blog. It really means the world to me. I have added a new widget to my blog on the right hand side, where you can enter your email and be subscribed to my blog, so whenever I publish a new post, you guys get a notification in your email. Don't worry there won't be any spam, and you'll only get a notification when I post something new. Today I wanted to share with you guys a few tricks I learned during my first semester in college, in order to look cute everyday even when you didn't get much sleep, or you were running late that morning. I hope these help!

1. Stock up on Basics
Leggings, plain tees, plain long sleeves, nice fitting jeans, comfy shoes, and camis. You have absolutely no idea how much all of these come in handy. You can create so many outfits out of these simple basics, and the best part is that it's so easy to accessorize a pair of jeans a plain tee. Throw on a cute necklace or scarf, some sparkly flats or slip-ons, some quick makeup, and you're ready to go. I recommend you buy your leggings from Target, they're about $12, but they're so worth it. They're thick and stretchy, warm, and comfy. And they last forever! For jeans, I personally would pick up some jeggings from Forever 21. They're about $10, and they're seriously the most comfy pairs of pants I own. They look like jeans, but feel like leggings. Trust me, you'll be thankful you wore them after a 12 hour day. You can also pick up all your basic tees, camis, and long sleeves from Forever 21. They range from $1.80 to about $9.00 and they're really comfy and good quality.

2. Wear in your Shoes First
Trust me, you do not want to be the weird girl on campus who can't even walk from class to class, because her shoes are uncomfortable. I learned that lesson very quickly. I personally love the canvas slip-ons (TOM look a likes) that you can get from any Asian or Mexican Dollar Stores. You can get them super inexpensive, and most of them are under $10. I found a place that sold them for $5.00, so I stocked up on every color in my size. They're so easy to throw on with any outfit, and they're so comfy. If you choose to wear sandals for the warmer months or even wedges, just make sure you can walk in them, and that you won't fall in them. You also never want to be that girl. I suggest you stick to some comfy flats, or converse (that have also been worn in). They look cute, but you will save your feet from major pain at the end of the day.

3.Plan Out Your Outfit the Night Before or Even the Weekend Before
I cannot even begin to tell you guys what a time saver this is, but I know that it also sounds really weird and time consuming if you don't know what you're doing, but just think about it. Can you imagine how much more time you can sleep in in the morning if you already have your outfit picked out? You would simply get up, get dressed, and go. It's the simple. I personally like to plan out my outfits the weekend before, because for me, it helps coordinate them and make sure I don't wear anything too similar that week, but it also enures that your clothes are all clean, and not in the wash, so if you do happen to be looking for something specific one morning, you'll be able to for sure wear it because it's not dirty, but my top reason for planning my outfits out the week before, is because the outfits that I pick out are I guess what you would call a "rough draft," and if you don't like them, you have a whole week to change it up and style it differently. It has really helped me evolve in the styling process and not be so cookie cutter when it comes to putting together an outfit. To hang up your outfit or outfits, I suggest you a $10 rolling clothing rack from Target, to keep it all organized.

4. Keep it Simple
If you're not into planning out your outfits, and you don't really know what to wear one morning, go with this simple rule: KEEP IT SIMPLE. It's almost impossible to style a bad outfit if you're keeping it simple. I suggest something like a long basic tee with some black leggings and some Chucks. You can put your hair up or simply throw it in a messy side braid and you're good to go. If keeping it simple if your favorite style, than I suggest you pick up a cute pair of stud earrings you can throw on with any outfit and a small necklace that can also go with anything. Whenever I find a necklace I really like, I tend to pick it up in both gold and silver so I can wear it pretty much any day without worrying about the metals crashing. Remember, when keeping it simple, also keep your accessories simple.

5. Emergency Outfits
There is seriously no worse feeling than when you're running super late, and you remember that you have a presentation that day that requires a dress code. You seriously want to curl up in a ball because you have to decide whether to throw together an appropriate outfit and be late, or be on time and be dressed inappropriately. Luckily for you, if you follow this tip, that won't ever happen again. If you're taking a class that requires you to give presentations with dress codes, plan ahead. I suggest you find some nice pieces in your wardrobe that you could wear, and if it's something like a dress, find a slip to go under and a nice pair of heels you can walk in. If you choose to go the blouse and pencil skirt route, make sure your pencil skirt is long enough and it's not too tight. You also need to make sure that your blouse tucks into your skirt properly and that it coordinates nicely. Keep the blouse simple, but if you do go with a print, make sure it's a little more conservative. Again pick some nice heels that you can walk in. I will suggest that you try investing in some black or nude pumps, especially if you're going into business, because they will always come in handy. Keep the jewelry simple.  Some pearl or diamond studs and a very tiny necklace will work well. I suggest that you take some flats with you and put them in your bag for when you get tired of your heels, because chances are you're going to have more classes in the day, and you want to be prepared.

6. Master the Topknot and Messy Side Braid
All this is is practice. You'd be surprised is how many times you'll use these super easy hairstyles throughout the semester. Learning to master them in under 60 seconds will save you MAJOR time. If you can master it artfully, you can even rock one of these hairstyles during a class presentation without it looking like you just didn't do your hair. I would stock up on tons on bobby pins and clear elastics, and keep some in your car just in case.

7. Find a Go To Makeup Look
If you're like me, you like to at least put some makeup on your face before leaving your face. Now, I know I don't need it, but I just like it, but unfortunately sometimes we don't have time to go all out with a smokey eye and winged eyeliner. This semester I was able to get my makeup routine down to about 5 minutes because I knew exactly what I was going to do, and I felt confident that I could do it in that time frame. My everyday makeup look consists of light foundation (BB cream works really well for long days), eyebrows, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and some kind of lip product. My biggest suggestion is to play around with your makeup and find a look that highlights your best features and then practice that look until you got it down. If you're going to be trying new products, I suggest you try them out the night before or the weekend before, there's nothing more annoying than when you have to remove your whole face of makeup because you didn't like that mascara or that concealer didn't work well. Just practice.

8. Be Confident
This is the only one of these that matters. Being confident is the most important thing in order to be able to wear whatever you want, but not only that, you won't be happy and comftorable in your own skin, until you love yourself. If you're not there yet, well then simply fake it till you make it.

My Week in Outfits

Tank: Forever 21
Cardigan: Eddie Bower
Jeggings: Forever 21
Boots: Bamboo
Last week was a pretty hectic one, so I wanted to keep all of my outfits pretty comfy, but still cute. I really like how put together this outfit looks, although I really just threw on a tank, cardigan, jeggings, and some boots. This outfit is seriously perfect for when you want to look cute and put together, but you're in a rush. And the best part is this combo works with any kind of color scheme, as long as all the colors you're using are complimentary of one another.

Sweatshirt: Wet Seal
Jeggings: Forever 21
Wellies: Merona
Necklace: Rue 21
If you guys saw my previous post, you saw that I did a whole post on this outfit, so I'm not really go into much detail, but seriously this is one of my favorite outfits ever.

Shirt: L.E.I
Tank: Forever 21
Leggings: Merona
Boots: Bamboo
Hat: Wet Seal
Necklace: Claires
Now I had bought this floppy hat at Wet Seal, and it was my mission to find a super cute and casual way to wear this. I decided that I was going to keep it simple with a chambray button down, black Target leggings (these are seriously the nicest, softest, and thickest leggings I own), a pair of boots, and of course my floppy hat. I got so many compliments that day, and it seriously is such a cute outfit for a day out.

Sweatshirt: Joe Boxer
Jeggings: Forever 21
Scarf: Forever 21
Boots: DIBA
Glasses: Vintage

On this day, I decided to keep it super simple and cozy since it was really cold and we were expecting snow that day. I threw this on for a quick shopping trip with my sisters to our local Target, and then later just kept it on to go to work. I was also trying to find a way to wear this stripped infinity scarf from Forever 21, but I don't really have any plain basics for colder weather except this grey sweatshirt. I threw on a pair of jeggings, and my pair of black studded booties and called it a day. With most scarfs, you're usually able to wear your hair down, without it becoming a tangled mess, but this scarf was so thick, that I needed to put my hair up, but I really think that my hair being up and my glasses just really brought everything together.

Baseball Tee: Forever 21
Jeggings: Forever 21
Shoes: Mariposa
Necklace: J. Crew
I have been on the hunt for some cute baseball tees for months now, and I finally found the perfect ones at Forever 21. I ended up picking up a couple colors, which I'm thinking about styling different ways in an upcoming post, and honestly guys for the price tag of $5.80, you can't go wrong. They're so soft and flattering, and they have a variety of colors available. I don't know how well it holds up after a couple of washes, because I just got them on Saturday so this is the first time I've worn them, but I really want more! I paired it with my favorite dark wash jeggings from Forever 21, some navy slip-ons, and I topped it off with my red rose necklace from J.Crew.

OOTD 12/18/13

Hi guys!
Today I am gonna show you guys a super quick OOTD from this past Wednesday that I wasn't able to put up until today because my dad's been in the hospital! He's doing better now, and I just wanted to thank you all for the well wishes you've sent our way these past couple of days. It means the world to us!

I recently was doing some shopping this past week, when I went to Wet Seal and saw that all of their sweatshirts were only $15, which meant that I obviously had to pick one up! They had a pretty big selection, but when I saw this Audrey sweatshirt, I knew that this is the one that I had to get. This is one of my favorite pictures of her, and I have been looking for a sweatshirt with that picture, for ages. I have a tee shirt with that same picture that I wear all the time, and I knew that I would wear the sweatshirt a ton, especially in Colorado because of the ever changing weather. I went with this statement necklace from Rue 21, because I honestly just really love it, and I really like how it looked with the sweatshirt.

Okay confession time. I have this really weird obsession with rain boots, and I wear them all the time, regardless of if its raining or not, and when my mom saw these boots during a thrifting trip last week, she knew she had to pick these up for me. I love the hot pink color, and I love how comfy they are even more. They are just the perfect boots to wear because they're not too heavy, and they still look really cute. You may be wondering why I chose to pair hot pink wellies with my sweatshirt, but if you saw in the picture above, her name is signed in a hot pink color, and I thought that adding a little pop of hot pink would compliment the outfit really nicely.

For pants, I just went with a pair of dark blue jeggings that I scored at Forever 21, for only $7.80. They're just so comfy and it feels like I'm wearing leggings. I will say that you should throw these in the washer by themselves before you wear them, because they dye everything a dark blue color, but other than that, they're just so perfect and comfy.

My Week in Outfits

Hey guys!
I've been working non stop lately to finish off some styling posts for you guys, but in the meantime, enjoy this mini post on the 3 of my outfits from this past week!

I wore this outfit on my last day of Fall semester, which also happened to be my last day of finals. It's just comfy and I loved how it looked. Definitely one of my favorite outfits this past week. If you guy saw my previous post, you saw me talking about how in love I am with vests, and I show you guys my favorite way of wearing them in this outfit. Top- Dream Out Loud, Vest- Express, Leggings- DEX, Booties-DIBA.

Now this outfit is one of my super quick go tos. Pretty sweater, jeans, boots, and a statement necklace. You seriously can never go wrong with this combination. I wasn't too sure at first about the black sequined sweater and the cognac colored boots, but I really love how it all came together, and the best part is this outfit was super warm, cozy, and comfy although it looked much more put together than it actually was. Sweater- Victoria Jones, Jeans- Celebrity Pink, Jacket- Paris Blues, Shoes- Bamboo, Necklace- Lovelywholesale.com

This last outfit is personally my favorite, and its mostly because of my red J. Crew rose necklace that I have been wanting for forever. I was able to find it off my new favorite shopping app, Vinted, for only $30 and it came with the tags and everything! Hello good baragin! I decided that I wanted to keep the focus of my outfit, on my necklace, so I went pretty simple with everything else. Sweater- Rue 21, Leggings- Merona (Target), Boots- Bamboo, Necklace- J.Crew

5 Winter Fashion Essentials

Hi guys!

I'm currently working on a couple of fashion posts for the holidays for you guys, but in the meantime, I wanted to share with you all my winter fashion essentials. These are the 5 items that I seriously cannot live without this winter season. I hope this gives you all some ideas for things you may want to add to your winter wardrobe shopping list, and FIY, if you want to see how I style these next items, keep a look out for the upcoming posts these next couple of weeks! I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday! PS, if you like any of the items I listed below, you can click on the caption beneath the picture, and it'll take you straight to that item on their website!

1. Vests
I don't know what it is about vests lately, but I have been OBSESSED. Now I don't mean dorky vests, I'm talking about fur & puffer vests. I think that they can just make your outfit look super pretty and preppy, or super duper glam, which I love! You can find a ton of cute vests like these at most stores, but I found the following at Wet Seal!
Wet Seal (On sale online for only $15)

Forever 21 (Online for only $29.80)
Wet Seal (On Sale online for only $15)

2. Black Leggings
I have a secret.... if it were sociably acceptable, I would totally live in black leggings, or leggings in any color or print. They are seriously the most comfortable things in the world, and they go with any outfit. I recently discovered that Walgreens sells legginsg for 2 for $12, and they are the best leggings I have seriously ever tried. They're super thick and fleece lined, so they cover your underwear and they're really warm. The best part is that if you go a couple sizes up, you can get them to be high waisted so they suck everything in and make you look super thin, without giving you camel toe.

3. Statement Jewelry
If you guys have been reading my blog lately, this one should come as no surprise. I just love how one necklace or super pretty pair of earrings can instantly make your whole outfit. I will admit that I have been super into the preppy style lately, and following all these preppy fashion bloggers on Instagram and Youtube, totally inspired my love and need for statement jewelry, but especially J. Crew inspired statement jewelry. You can find super cute statement jewelry at Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, DEB, and Rue 21. You should look there first to find some gorgeous jewelry for super cheap!

Charlotte Russe $12.99
Forever 21 $12.80

4. Knee Socks
I've seen a ton of people rocking knee socks since the summer time, but I could not justify spending $8-20 on a pair of socks. I was finally able to find some on lovelywholesale.com, and the best part is they were only $2-3 with free shipping! They have about 5 or 6 different colors, and they are seriously amazing quality. If you guys don't know about lovelywholesale.com, you should totally read my "5 Unexpected Places I Love to Shop." Knee socks are just so versatile and they just add a little something to any outfit, plus they can totally pull any outfit together.

5. Riding Boots
If I could live in any type of shoes for the rest of my life, it would probably be riding boots. They're just so pretty and preppy, and they go with just about any outfit. In an upcoming fashion post, you'll see how I rock my dresses for winter, which totally includes a look with riding boots and knee high socks. They're so comfy, and they're great to just throw on and go. I love how they look with any outfit, and I especially love how ROSS always has new styles and colors of riding boots for under $30!
Charlotte Russe $42.50

Tips on Cleaning Out & Organizing your Closet

Hey guys!
I recently cleaned out my closet again, and I thought that maybe some of you would like to learn some quick tips on how to thoroughly clean out your closet. I hope this helps!

1. Get in the right mood
Now I know that sounds really weird, but if you're not in the right mood and state of mind, you're not going to get anything done. You're going to be sentimental and emotional about everything and you're not going to want to throw anything out. These moods come to me a couple times a month or simply when I'm sick of not being able to find anything in my closet and dressers. I suggest that once you're in the mood, keep going until you're tired or until you feel the mood start to wear off.

2. Tackle everything on the floor first & make your bed
Having a clean work area is super important because it keeps you motivated to keep going, and it makes it easy to get around. I like making my bed when I'm about to have a closet detox because it gives me a nice flat area to lay everything out on. I suggest you start with your bed first, that way you can toss all the clothes that need to be hung up on your bed. Also divide all the stuff from the floor into piles. I usually just do a "needs to be hang up," and a "dirty laundry," pile.  I immedietly put away all shoes, to save myself the task of having to go through another big pile and I take all my dirty clothes to our laundry room, to get rid of one pile.

3. Closet
I like to start off by going through the closet in my room, and taking out all the hangers that are empty. I put all of those aside in another pile on my bed, for when I'm ready to use them again. I go through each item one by one, and I put aside all the clothes that I haven't worn in the last 6 months. Everything else that I know I wear on a regular basis stays where it is, but if I'm transitioning my fall wardrobe into the closet in my room, I make sure to also put aside all the tank tops and summer items that most likely won't be used often, and put them in a pile to later organize and hang in the closet or racks outside my room. Once your closet has a lot more room, you're going to be able to work a lot better. A closet looks much nicer and more organized if the clothes are color coordinated. Since your closet is a little more empty after taking out all those clothes, this gives you more space to move around in. You want to start from white going all the way to black. This will help you in finding your clothes with more ease in the morning, because if you're looking for a pink shirt, you can easily go into the pink section, and pick it out. Now you want to take all your clothes that need to be hung up from your bed, and since your closet is now color coded, you can just put each one into the right color coded section. If you don't like to color code your closet, you can simply put your clothes from tanks with no sleeves, going to shirts with longer sleeves, so one side of your closet should start with no sleeves, and at the end of the rod, you should have the clothes with the longest sleeves. If you have any hangers left over, you can hang them up on either side of your closet to make it easier on yourself when you need to hang something else up.

4. Dresser
After you go through the stuff hanging in your closet, start with your drawers. I like to start from top to bottom. Go through each drawer and once again decide which clothes you haven't worn in the past 6 months, and put them in the same pile as the clothes from your closet that you also haven't worn in 6 months. Once, you have all of those clothes out of your drawers, I suggest going through and designating a drawer to your different clothes. You can do one for camis, one for PJs, and another for all your t-shirts. Once everything is in the correct drawer, you can start folding them. I usually triple fold my graphic tee shirts in order to see the design on them. To do that, you simply fold the shirt like you usually do, and then fold in half once more. I put all my graphic tees in one stack, and all of my other plain tees into another stack. It simply helps you find things more easily when getting dressed in the morning. For your PJ drawer, I suggest you roll up your pants, and stack them, so more fit in the drawer, and you can simply fold the shorts in half to make more fit. For the shirts going in the PJ drawer, I would just fold them like you normally do, or also do the 3 fold trick and that way more fit. It all depends on how much space you have.

5. Shoes
I like to go through all my shoes and also do the same thing as with my clothes. I take out the ones that I haven't worn in a while or I just don't really like anymore, and I put them into another pile on the floor. I ask my mom and sisters if they want any of the shoes I'm throwing out, and the ones that they don't want simply go into a pile that will go to charity, or have my mom give them to someone that needs them. You can also sell them on apps like Vinted or set up your own store on storenvy.com. To organize my heels I have shelves set up, that I had my dad drill to my wall in order to make them stay up straight no matter the weight. You can usually fit about 6-8 pairs of shoes on each shelf depending on how you organize them. For flats, slip ons, and loafers, I have them organized on the cloth shoe organizers that usually go on the back of your door. Those usually fit 10-20 pairs of shoes depending on big the one you buy is.

6. Jewlery
Jewlery is such a pain to organize because there is so much of it. I reccomend that to organize all your earrings and studs, you go to your local Dollar Tree and pick up a couple sheets of soft foam. You can then cut them into squares or long rectangles depending on how you want to display your earrings. They make them look nice and they keep them all nicely organized. You can put all of your earring backs into a little tray of your choosing. I personally just use an old glass ashtray that I found laying aroud the house. For all of bigger necklaces, I suggest you buy an accordian jewelry organizer. You can usually find them at Goodwill or on Ebay for super cheap. If you don't like the colors of it, you can buy a can of spray paint in the color of your choosing at any craft store for only a few dollars. I know some people drill theirs into the wall, but I simply use clear tacks to keep it in place, to save myself the hassle of having to drill and undrill it everytime I redo my room. For your more danity jewelry, you can design a little pattern on a plain wall with tacks, and hang them on there, or you can buy a printed paper of your choice, and put the tacks on there, and it'll make it look like a little frame, that in actuallity only cost you a few dollars. For bracelts and watches, you can buy the organizers shown below at Ross for $3-$15, and they hold about 15-60 bracelets and watches depending on how what size the organizer is and the size of you bracelets and watches.

7. 6 Months Pile
After everything else is put away and organized, I start going through the pile of clothes that I haven't worn in 6 months or more. I don't suggest you do this when you're feeling tired or emotional, or else you're going to want to keep everything in that pile. I usually look through the pile, and ask myself if I'm ever really going to wear it, if the answer is "no," then I put it in a pile to give away. If I tell myself that I'm going to wear it, I hang it back up, but instead of the tip of the hanger facing towards my wall, I'm going to have it face me. That way when I do wear it, I can just put it back in my closet facing like the rest of my hangers. If after a few months it's still facing towards me, I obviously haven't worn it, and it's time to toss it. The same as my shoes, I always ask my mom and sisters if they want any of the items, and the remaining items, I give to my mom so she can give them to someone who really needs them.

8. Other Tips
Some other tips I want to share with you guys is to get a $10 rolling closet from Target. I have one of those outside of my room, and they're so awesome to put my most worn outerwear on there. Jackets, blazers, and cardigans that I know I'm going to wear quite a lot, that way when I'm leaving in the mornings, I can just grab one on my way out. My next tip is to try to clean out your closet every 2-3 months that way you're not too overwhelmed by the amount of things you have to do if you wait 6 months. My last tip is to try to keep a list of items that you want with you. I recently started doing this, and whenever I'm out shopping or online shopping, I look for the items on my list, so I get what I actually want and need, instead of filling my closet up again with things that I don't really need more of. This way your closet can stay clutter free for as long as possible.

I hope these tips were usful to all of you!

Designer Wish List

Hi guys!
I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday! With the holidays just around the corner, I've decided to share my designer wish list with you all, and hopefully give you some ideas for things you may want to add to your wish list this holiday season. Hope you all enjoy!

1. Tory Burch Reva Flats
I saw these flats for the first time a few years, and I didn't really think much of them. Then, I joined Instagram and I saw all these fashion and beauty bloggers/vloggers with these, and they would all rave about them so much. I didn't know what the big deal was, so I ventured over to Nordstrom to try these on, and OMG they are seriously some of the nicest shoes I have ever tried on. They're leather so they're going to last for forever, and although they hurt when you're breaking them in (because of the leather), these are going to be one of the best investments I make in my wardrobe. Every time I'm in a Nordstrom Rack, I check to see if maybe they have a pair, but I haven't had any such luck yet.

2. Jeffery Campbell Lita Booties
I don't know what it is about these shoes, but I have wanted a pair ever since I first laid my eyes on them. I think that it's honestly because they're so beautifully made. The heel, the platform, the fabric of the shoes, the color. I could go on and on about these shoes, but I won't. They are just so beautiful, but I cannot justify spending $100+ on a pair of shoes that I won't wear every day (they're just not very practical for a college student).

3. Louis Vouitton Azur Damier Speedy
This is another one of those items that I don't really know what my obsession is with it. It's not really practical because it wouldn't go with many of my outfits, but it's just so beautiful, that I think that that is justification enough for wanting it. I personally prefer the dark print of this bag, because I think it looks nicer, but honestly I think that it's a nice bag no matter what color it comes in. I don't really like the purses that have the typical LV print on them, because I think they're a little tacky, but this print is just so beautiful and a must have an any fashionistas closet.

4. Black Chanel Quilted Purse
Yes, I know I'm such a typical girl, but I just need to own this bag so badly. The shape, the quilted leather, the classic black color. It's a staple in every girl's closet, and although I have my Apt. 9 look-a-like, nothing will ever be a good as the original Chanel.

5. Kate Spade iPad Case
When I got my iPad back in July, I knew I wanted a Kate Spade case for sure, because they're just so pretty and sassy. After looking all over the internet, I finally found the print that I wanted, but unfortunately that case cost about as much as one of my textbooks, and so I decided against it. It's such beautiful and simple print, and I think I know what I may be gifting myself for Christmas this year.
