4 Trends I'm So Over

Hi guys! I hope you all enjoyed your day off and were able to spend it with all your loved ones! As my break from school draws to a close, I wanted to be able to get a few more blog posts up for you all before my finals start. Hopefully I can get at least 4 or 5 new posts up for you guys these next couple of weeks, but I promise that after finals week, I will try to get on a regular schedule to post. Tonight, I was flipping though one of my favorite fashion magazines, when I started to become extremely irritated to see the same things over and over in all the pages. I usually have a pretty open mind when it comes to fashion, but I am just so sick and tired of these next 4 trends, and I would seriously appreciate it if I could stop seeing them EVERYWHERE. That's something I could be very thankful for this holiday season.

1. Crop Tops
Okay, I think that crop tops wouldn't be so bad, if they were worn correctly. I know I'm about to sound extremely rude, but crop tops were meant to be worn by girls with flat tummies or abs. I'm sick of seeing everyones muffin tops hanging out of their crop tops. I know I'm not a skinny minnie with a flat tummie, which is why I stay far far away from crop tops. They've seriously been around for almost a year now, and this past spring season, they just seemed to become the most wanted item in any typical girls closet, thanks to Brandy Melville. For fall time, all they did was make it into sweater form, which honestly does not make this horrible trend any better. Please just put away the crop tops.

2. High Waisted Shorts
This is the number two item on the list of items that I hate the most. These can either be really flattering or really unflattering, and for some reason, people always choose to buy the ones that are really unflattering on their bodies. Do any of you remember mom jeans? Yea, well high waisted shorts are basically the new mom jeans. I'm all okay for some cute skater or circle skirts, but honestly I think it's time to put away all high waisted shorts at least for the reminder of Fall and Winter.

3. Mid-Calf Boots
So these are not quite knee highs, and not quite ankle booties. They're right in the middle of those two heights. Now I don't know who came up with these horrible shoes, but they are not flattering on ANYBODY. They make your legs look short and stocky, and even girls with legs for days look not okay in these. Don't get me wrong, some designers have created some serious eye candy, but that's all they are, eye candy. Not meant to be worn, simply meant to be displayed.

4. Printed Button Downs
I love button downs. I own one in almost every color and stripe color combination. I love plaid button downs and I also love my high low button downs that I wear with leggings. I hate those button shirts, that are not really button shirts. You know the ones that I'm taking about? They're not really thick and they're super sheer, so you have to wear a shirt underneath, or most girls just wear bandeaus. Every single girl in your class owns at least one, and they all come in upside down cross prints, or some kind of vertical stripe print, with studded collars. You know which ones I'm taking about? Yea I hate those. They give button downs a bad name, and people who wear them think they're either hipsters or prepsters because they're button downs with studded collars. The worst part is that they're everywhere. Every store I go to sells them. Now don't get me wrong, I think they make some nice color button downs in that material, which can be nice with a cardigan over it, but that's it. Please, if you want a real button down, then buy one, just please stop wearing these.

12 Beauty & Fashion Essentials for Every Girl on the Go

Hi guys!
You know those days when you wish you could go home and give yourself a quick touch up before you begin the second half of your day, but you simply don't have the time, energy, or gas to do so? Well, I know that I have a ton of those days, and although my car gets pretty gas mileage, I've come up with an a little kit that I keep in the middle console of my car, for when I need a touch up, or I forgot something in my rush to get ready in the mornings. Hope this helps you all out!

1. Mini Deodorant
Now, I know that most girls get embarrassed by the talk of deodorant, but honestly it's more embarrassing to smell like B.O. than to carry this little baby with you. It's seriously a life savor if you ran out of your house so quickly, that you forgot to put some on, or maybe you're one of those people who get sweatier as the day progresses. You can find mini sizes of deodorant in the travel section of any Walmart or Target for 1 or 2 dollars, depending on the brand. I know the one in the picture isn't mini size, but I just had to show you guys my favorite deodorant, in case you didn't know which one to pick up on your next trip.

2. Bobby Pins, Hair Ties, & Mini Elastics
I'm one of those girls that constantly is having a bad hair day, and there is nothing that one of these 3 items can't fix. Whether I want to pin my bangs back, give myself a messy ponytail, or do a quick side braid, these 3 things are seriously my saviors. I keep them in this little container that originally contained a bunch of bobby pins that I purchased from WalMart for a few dollars, because it keeps me from loosing them in the bag where I store everything in my car, but it also keeps them together so I can reach them with easy access.

3. Perfume or Body Spray
This is another one of those items that I forget to put on before I leave in the mornings, but thankfully I always keep a bottle in my bag for those days. I personally prefer body spray because they're cheaper, the bottle is plastic, and it doesn't spill all over your bag. I know most people prefer the little roller ball perfume that comes with your full size perfume when you purchase a gift set, but I've had such bad luck with any perfume I've carried with me, that I just stick to body sprays now. I think that they both smell pretty good, but body sprays are definitely less messy.

 4. Favorite Mascara
You know how around the same time everyday, your makeup just doesn't look as pretty as it did in the morning when you applied it? Yup, that happens to me on a daily basis, but I learned that something as simple as a few coats of fresh mascara on your lashes during that time of day, can instantly make your face appear more awake, and your eyes look pretty and big once again. I suggest to go with a voluminous mascara to add a little extra to your lashes, but any mascara will do. I personally prefer Cover Girl's Clump Crusher or Lash Blast to give my lashes the wide awake look they desperately need at 3pm.

5. Sunnies
If you wear contacts, then this a must have in your little kit. My eyes are super sensitive to the sun at all times of the day because of my contacts, but sometimes I'm running so late that I forget to grab a pair before I leave. I started keeping a pair in my kit, after I got into a fender bender on my way to school because the sun was directly in my eyes, which didn't allow me to see the whole line of traffic ahead of me had stopped. I will never make that mistake again. I usually have a case for them, and I definitely recommend you put your glasses in a case if they're expensive, but since both of these are from the dollar store and very replaceable, I don't mind if they get scratched.

 6. Gum
I'm a huge coffee drinker, as is most of students in college, but between all my commuting, I don't really have a chance to stop and brush my teeth after a cup of coffee, so I always carry a couple of my favorite packs of gum with me to stop that coffee breath, because let's be honest, no one likes that.

7. Band aids
I have seriously learned my lesson about breaking in new shoes during my 14 hour days, but I still have those shoes that cause serious blisters if I don't put band aids on my the back of my foot. I also picked up this little pack of band aids from the travel section at Target, and they have saved my feet & me from many hours of torture. These are seriously a must have if you're always on the go and you always forget to pack an extra pair of comfy shoes.

8. Extra Earrings & Earring Backs
Putting on a pair of earrings is the number 1 thing that I always forget to put on when I'm in a rush, and because I feel very unfeminine without some on, I have made sure to always keep an extra couple pairs in my kit. I recommend going with something like fake diamond studs or pearls, because those will most likely go with any outfit that you're wearing on that day. I also recommend  you keep a few earring backs in your little kit, because I can't even tell you how many earrings I've lost due to the fact that I forgot to put on an earring back.

9. Lotion
This is one of those items that is so important especially in the winter time. You can always apply this to your hands and arms if they need some moisturizing, or simply to keep your skin healthy in the brutal winter months. This is another one of those items that you can find at the travel section of your local drugstore for under $2.

10. Hand Sanitizer
I don't know what it is, but I'm always eating in my car, like at least once a day, and because I'm a huge germaphobe, this is one of those items that I always have on me. You can find these are your local drugstore, or check out your local Bath & Body Works because they always have these on their 5 for $5 sale, which is a total score.

11. Cream Blush
I love cream blush because they're a no mess way to touch up your makeup and bring some color back into your face after a long day. It doesn't require you to apply it with a brush, and that's one less think you have to keep with you. I got these in the makeup section of my Forever 21 a while ago, and they are so pigmented and were so cheap. I only paid $1.80 for each one. It doesn't get any better than that.

12. Lip Balm and Bright Lippie
I have made it a habit to always carry these two things with me, because they can save your lips, but also save your whole outfit. Sometimes all you need is a bold lip to complete your look, and I am in LOVE with this matte lip color from E.L.F in "Rich Red." The color is beautiful, I love how the red looks in a matte finish, and the best part is it's so easy to apply and it doesn't move at all. You can find these at Target, on E.L.F.'s website, or sometimes they even have them for a dollar at Dollar Tree. I tend to change out my lip balms, but right now this red velvet lip balm from ChapStick is my favorite. It smells amazing and it makes the Fall & Winter time even better.

Now you can choose to store everything in whatever your little heart desires, but I personally prefer this makeup bag that I got from Ross in a set of 3 for only $9. The colors are very chic and I feel fashionable even just by having it in my car, but the best part is that it fits perfectly in the middle console of my car.

Best & Worst Dressed of The 2013 American Music Awards

Hi guys!
So I have a confession... I don't actually watch any awards shows, but I'm always on all social media and news outlets the night of big awards shows waiting to see what everyone wore on the red carpet, because let's be honest, the red carpet fashion is the best part of the shows anyways. You have all the pop stars, boy banders, and celeb presenters all trying to outdo one another on the red carpet. Umm, hello? Is that not like the best part? Here are my picks for the best and worst dressed of the night.

Best
1. Ke$ha in Michael Costello
I absolutely love how amazing and classy she looks in this gown, but her two-toned hair reminds us that the Ke$ha that we all know and love isn't going anywhere anytime soon. She just looks FLAWLESS. She is my best dressed of the night for sure!

2. Taylor Swift in Julien MacDonald
Okay, T-Swifty has never looked better or hotter as she did last night. The hair, the sultry makeup, and the dress made her the hottest on the red carpet last night for sure. I love how she had the peekaboo in the chest area covered with a piece of sheer material, which made her show just the right amount of skin.

3. Miley Cyrus in Versace
Considering how Miley has shown up to red carpets in the last year or so, this is a HUGE step up for the girl. She looks flawless in her all white Versace pantsuit, and although I'm not really loving her makeup and hair, I still think she looks very beautiful and reminds us all of the Miley we used to love.

4. Katy Perry in Oscar De La Renta
OMG. Katy Perry was PERFECTION in this Oscar de la Renta Gown. Honestly, I'm not really a fan of her fashion sense, but this dress brings her creative and fashion side together perfectly, and we're left with the most beautiful gown I think I've ever seen her wear. Good job Katy!

Worst
1. Emma Roberts in Lanvin
Honestly, I think this dress had some great potential, and I do think that it could have been pulled off, but just not by her. When I first saw it, I thought it was a jumper & I thought to myself, "maybe this is an unflattering angle." After more research, I saw that her jumper was a dress, and that no matter what angle it was photographed from, it was still unflattering.

2. Ciara in J. Mendel
I know everyone loved this dress on Ciara, but I hated it. I think the fit was wrong for her body type, and her hair just threw the whole thing off for me. I think If it would have been a mini dress with some pretty wavy hair, this look would've worked for me, but her whole look just didn't look like it was styled together properly.

3. Heidi Klum in Marchesa
I hate this. I hate the fringe, I hate the cut, but I think I think what I hate the most is that a supermodel like Heidi would choose a hot mess like this dress to wear to an awards show. She needs to show off her legs, and stick to mini dresses, because she looks amazing in those at events like this. It was just horrible all around.

4. Zendaya in Donna Karan Resort
Zendaya is only 16 or 17, but this outfit makes her look like she's in her 30s, and please don't even get me started on her horrible extensions. She's so gorgeous and could seriously pull off anything, but this is just not doing her age any justice. It looks like what her mom should be wearing, not her.

My Current Fashion & Beauty Loves

Hi guys!
So recently I've been doing some shopping (surprise, surprise) & I've come across these next items that have already become staples in my closet. Now I can start doing these on a monthly basis if you would like, or if you would like to see shorter posts, I can do them on a weekly basis and you guys can see some of the items that I've recently purchased that I fell in love with right away. I hope you all enjoy!

Clothes
1. Camo Military Jacket
Yes, I have finally done it. I have found the jacket with the perfect combination of camo with that classic tailored military shape. I was able to score this real military jacket from an estate sale for only $2. Can you believe that?! I love throwing it over anything, because it seriously goes with anything and everything, but my my favorite combo has been over jeans and a plain tee. It instantly makes any outfit, and it's super cute and trendy.

2. Cream Lace Dress
Last Friday night, I ventured on over to my local Rue21, where they were having there "1000 Store Sale," and thousands of items were marked down to $3, $4, or $6. I meticulously looked through racks and racks of ill fitting crop tops, and I was able to score 6 amazing pieces for around $30. Colorado weather has not really been on my side lately, but fortunately I was able to rock this beautiful little dress before our snow season started. It just has the perfect shape, perfect color, and perfect length. I can't believe I was able to score it for only $6! I know, pretty amazing right? I was going to feature my the outfit for this dress, but I've decided to do a whole styling post around this dress, so stay on the lookout for that!

3. Colorful Knit Aztec Sweater
Usually, when out shopping I pass on items if I'm not really sure if I'll still wear them in a few months from now, or sometimes I simply pass on them because I have a horrible impulsive shopping habit that I'm trying to break. But after the 4th time I had gone back to the store, and I still wanted it as much as I had wanted it the first time I saw it, I knew I had to buy it, and honestly I'm so happy I did. I found this little baby at my local Ross for only $21.99, which is a little more than I usually like to spend, but months of research on a sweater like this taught me that they were gonna be at least more than $30, I knew I needed to snag this one up. This is perfect to throw on over a pair of jeans, tank, and riding boots, and you can seriously call it a day.

Shoes
 4. Riding Boots
I know, I know, I sound like every other teenage girl with an obsession with riding boots, but these are seriously my saviors. You can wear riding boots with jeans, leggings, skirts, and dresses, and they will ALWAYS look super cute. I have about 6 pairs of riding boots, but these are by far my favorites right now. The tan color compliments almost all of my outfits, and they are the most comfy pairs of boots I own. I was able to score this pair of SODA boots from my local Ross for only $24.99, and here's a little extra tip for you guys: check your local Ross on a regular basis, because they have new shipments every Tuesday, which means you're always gonna find new shoes, but also all their old stock goes on sale every Tuesday...DEALS!

5. Moto Inspired Booties
These booties are a little more edgy, but they're so cute as I showed you guys a couple weeks ago, you can pair them with even the preppiest of clothing, a plaid shirt. My dad bought me these ones from Ross about 3 weeks as a "thank you" for helping my sisters on a very tiring day of shopping for them, and for being his personal shopper and stylist for the day. (I seriously waited outside the dressing rooms for like an hour while everyone was playing dress up, and would pop out after every single item asking me if they looked okay or not. Point black, I'm the go-to fashion person in the family that will either "okay" or "veto" an outfit.) I'm also thinking about maybe doing a whole blog post around styling these boots, so let me know what you guys think!

Accessories
6.  Black Quilted Bag
As you guys could tell by my last blog post, I love statement necklaces, so I am just going to talk about my favorite purse for fall. I've been wanting the black quilted Chanel bag, for a couple of years now, but I am not going to be able to afford it anytime soon. Instead, I made it my mission to find an alternative for under $10. I was at a new Goodwill that opened in my area, when I spotted this Apt 9. beauty for only $6. I seriously cannot have been happier. I wear this purse with everything because it's black and so obviously it goes with everything, but it's so so cute and compact so I can fit what I need without having to carry a huge tote.

Beauty
7. Baby Lips & EOS
I love the dark lip trend, but in order to be able to pull it off, you need to have moisturized soft lips. Nobody wants chapped lips when you wear dark lip colors, because the deep color will seep into the lines of your chapped lips making it nearly impossible to take it off, no matter what you do. One of my favorite tips is to coat your lips in some kind of lip balm before bed, but also anytime before you apply a dark lip color. It'll help your lips stay super moisturized, but your lip color will last much longer.

8. Dark Lips
Shocker. I'm into the dark lips as well. I know I sound like such a typical girl sometimes, but in my defense I was into the whole dark lips last Fall too, and my obsession just rolled over onto this year as well. I just love how pretty and vampy dark lips look, and it's seriously my favorite beauty obsession for Fall & Winter. Over the course of the last year, I have accumulated quite a lot of dark lipsticks, lipglosses, and lipstains, but these are the ones that I'm loving right now. (From top to bottom: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lipstain in "Crush," Revlon SuperLustrous Lipstick in "Black Cherry," Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in 420 "Deepest Cherry," & E.L.F Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in "Sangria Starters."

Statement Jewelry I'm Loving for Fall

Hi guys!
I have been on a crazy hunt for statement jewelry to add to my Fall wardrobe, and I was finally able to find super cute and super cheap jewelry. All of these 7 pieces are imitation jewelry from brands like J.Crew, Versace, and House of Harlow, but I was able to find each of these necklaces for under $5. I hope you enjoy and it gives you some inspiration for pieces that you maybe want to add to your wardrobe.

1. Lion Gold Chain
I was so stocked when I found this Versace imitation on lovelywholesale.com for only $3-4 dollars with free shipping! I love pairing this beauty with my denim button downs, but also with any kind of plain sweater to make it pop! It's such amazing quality and the best part was how cheap it was!

2. Rue 21 Coral Floral
I fell in love with this necklace the second my eye spotted it in the 50% clearance rack at Rue21. I ended scoring this little baby for only $4.99....umm can you believe that? I couldn't pass it up! I love how the gold and coral compliment each other, and although it's a statement necklace, it doesn't overpower your outfit at all. My favorite part about this necklace is that it's not only an investment for your fall wardrobe, but also for your Spring and Summer wardrobe as well. Who knows, you might even be able to style this for the Winter time! If I can find some cute ways to style this for the winter time, I will make a blogpost all about it!

3. Black Geometric Necklace
I seriously cannot get enough of this necklace. It's so cute, simple, it makes your outfit look instantly more chic, but most important, it adds that little bit of extra "hmmph" that every outfit needs. I ended picking this necklace at dresslink.com. (I tried finding a link for both this one and the Versace one, but they're not available on the website anymore). I've been lusting after this necklace for years because I see so many celebs and bloggers rock the House of Harlow one, but I just couldn't justify spending $60+ on a necklace, and the fact that I found this one for only $3 with free shipping, was just beyond amazing!

4. Gold & Silver Monograms
Yes. I did it. I know, I'm such a typical prepster, but I needed a monogrammed necklace in my life! I was able to find both of this "C" initial necklaces as Rue 21, for only $3 each on the 50% clearance rack, and I think I just about cried, when I discovered that they still had my initial in both gold and silver. Both of these babies get quite a lot of love because I wear them literally every day! I alternate between the gold and silver depending on what I'm wearing that day. I have gotten so many compliments on them every time I wear them, and I honestly have to say that it's the best $6 I have ever spent. Tip: If you put one coat of clear nail polish on all your cheaper jewelry (rings, necklaces, earrings), they won't start turning green, and they will last you forever!

5. J.Crew Inspired Statement Necklace
I think I may have actually let out a squeal when I saw this gorgeous necklace at Rue21, and you know I really love something when I don't mind paying a whole $10, but luckily for me, this was also on the 50% off clearance rack, so I scored it for only $5! Can you believe that? It is honestly the most beautiful piece of jewelry that I own, and I even have it on display with the neck form that I found at Ross for only $6! This necklace is literally so perfect, but I still don't know exactly how I want to style it, because I don't want my outfit to overpower it, but instead have my necklace be the center piece. When I do figure it out, you can expect and outfit of the day post!

6. Big and Classy

What can I say about this necklace? I mean honestly what can you say about this necklace? It's so amazing and perfect, and I just want to wear it with every single outfit, but fret not, I have refrained myself from doing that, and I only wear it when my outfit just needs the glam level to be taken up a notch. I was also able to score this perfection of a necklace for only $5 at Rue21 on their 50% off clearance rack. Thank you Rue21 for allowing me to indulge my fashionista side, without breaking the bank!
